"She's definitely got a bright future", said Svitolina.

"It was sad playing another Ukrainian girl", said Svitolina.

"It's tough to be seeded because everyone plays pretty freely against you and you have to be ready for tough matches from the start of the tournament", she said.

Kostyuk had been labelled the "future of tennis" by some observers after becoming the youngest Australian Open second- round victor since "Swiss Miss" Martina Hingis in 1996.

Svitolina was one of the pre-tournament favourites after winning five tour titles past year and the Brisbane International warm-up to start this campaign.

"It's tough but I always try and stay positive and take each match as it comes".

Players were bothered and spectators clamored for shade and mist-spraying fans in searing heat at Melbourne Park, which had organizers on the verge of enforcing the tournament's extreme heat policy before temperatures dropped quickly after peaking around 2 p.m. local time.

Svitolina will next play Denisa Allertova, who beat Magda Linette 6-1, 6-4.

China beats U.S. in global leadership: Gallup
In just under half of the world's countries - 65 out of 134 - U.S. standing collapsed, by 10 percentage points or more . If the US was a domestic political candidate, this sudden dive "under water" in approval ratios would be alarming.

Svitolina finally got her first break at the eighth attempt to go 2-0 up in the second set.

"Well, a lot", she said.

All eyes were on Ukrainian qualifier Kostyuk, who became the first 15-year-old since Nicole Vaidisova to reach the third round of a grand slam this week.

Kyle Edmund was the first man into the fourth round, overcoming Nikoloz Basilashvili 7-6 (0), 3-6, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 in 3 ½ hours on open court in the peak of the heat.

Kostyuk's success, coming through qualifying and reaching the third round, has been one of the stories of the tournament but she found Svitolina too strong and too experienced in her debut on Rod Laver Arena.

Kostyuk received entry into qualifying because of her junior girls victory previous year at the Australian Open.

She will face Belgium's Elise Mertens or Alize Cornet of France for a place in the quarterfinals.
