Kathleen Kennedy Explains Why Lord and Miller Were Fired from Solo
The first Star Wars movie aired in 1977. Forty years later the franchise continues to expand

Lucasfilm may boast a woman at its head, Kathleen Kennedy, but its leadership has failed to find reflection in who's actually being hired to tell the stories of the Star Wars universe. Lord and Miller were apparently clashing with Star Wars franchise scribe Lawrence Kasdan, who penned the Solo script, and had reportedly gone off the set story and taken the narrative in their own direction. The actual quote has to do with odds, but we'll let Howard slide on it this time.
"So, it's not like there's anything I can really add to it because the last thing I want to do is...[reopen a wound]".
Along with successfully suggesting how to improve this Han Solo scene, George Lucas also gave Ron Howard a key piece of advice for making Solo: A Star Wars Story: "Just enjoy this". Howard was basically brought in to save a movie that appeared to have gone off the rails. "But when I learned that this change was happening, it just came in a moment where I was working on lots of new projects for Imagine [the film and TV production company], and I had not planned to direct anything previous year", he explains. The first six "Star War" films were released in two trilogies from 1977 to 1983 and then 1999 to 2005 in prequels that weren't as beloved as the first crop.
"Tell them I told you everything you needed to know, and that you can't tell anyone", Fold reportedly said.
"Solo" opens in theaters May 25. Now, it sounds like those fans will be getting their wish...sort of.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, it emerged Howard only took two days to sign on to the project in June previous year, and four to arrive on set - but he was still nervous to take on such a big task so late in the piece.
"He had meant to just kind of stop by and say hi, and he stayed five hours. There's even one little moment in a scene that - I can't tell you what, sorry - but in the scene on the Millennium Falcon where George said, 'Why doesn't Han just do this.' It actually is a amusing little bit that will probably get a laugh".
With the first Solo trailer and new stories coming out about the film, we've realised the Falcon looked a bit different before Han got his hands on it. "I think audiences are gonna feel that love and excitement". He could revisit these characters, and I think he felt so comfortable, obviously with Ron being there, that it was just fun for him. These are really great guys and you know, nobody wanted this to happen.
