Boris Johnson has said Rohingya Muslim refugees should return to Myanmar only of their own accord and when the "conditions are right".

Police arrested two Reuters reporters, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, on Decembe 12 for allegedly obtaining confidential documents relating to Rakhine and have accused them of violating Myanmar's Official Secrets Act.

Johnson met with the embattled Myanmar leader, whose reputation among the global community has crumbled over her handling of the Rohingya crisis, in the capital Naypyidaw while on a four-day tour in Asia.

Mr Johnson made the intervention as he visited a refugee camp at Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, ahead of talks with Burma's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Sunday. Hundreds of thousands of the Muslim minority have fled what the United Nations has called a textbook example of ethnic cleansing.

Action will be taken against 10 members of Myanmar's security forces in connection with the killing of captured Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine state, a government spokesman said on Sunday, adding it was not related to a Reuters report on the incident.

She has refused to change tack.

Today, Johnson and Suu Kyi "discussed in an open and friendly manner the latest developments in Rakhine State, including planning for the reception of returnees who fled", Myanmar's Foreign Ministry said in a Facebook post alongside photos of the pair meeting.

"This once more attests to the need for a full and thorough investigation by the authorities of all violence in Rakhine State and attacks on the various communities there", United Nations spokesman Farhan Haq told reporters in NY.

"It is vital the public knows what happened and the world knows what happened in Rakhine and who was responsible", Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Boris Johnson told Reuters in Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh. "They do want to go back - but they don't feel safe", Mr Johnson said.

Others have no home to return to after their villages were torched in the military crackdown.

The special report, published overnight, lays out events leading up to the killing of 10 Rohingya men from Inn Din village in Rakhine state who were buried in a mass grave after being hacked to death or shot by Buddhist neighbors and soldiers.

Johnson is scheduled to fly on to Bangkok today for a two-day visit that will include meetings with junta chief Prayut Chan-O-Cha and the Thai chairman of an advisory board on the Rohingya crisis.
