Jocelyn Morffi was a beloved first grade teacher at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami, which fired her this week after she posted photos of her wedding online.

In an Instagram post, Morffi said, "In their eyes I'm not the right kind of Catholic for my choice in partner".

The school informed parents of their decision in a letter but did not cite a reason for letting Morffi go.

Parents said Morffi was loved by their children, and they believe firing her is a mistake. Parents say they've had meetings with the principal and a priest about the teacher's firing - but they haven't received a good explanation.

"I'm upset", said an emotional Christiana Lopez, whose son was a student in Morfii's class. Peter and Paul Catholic School say they are fighting for the reinstatement of a woman who didn't just teach their children to read and right, but also ran a volunteer organization called #teachHope70x7 that enlisted students to distribute meals to the homeless on weekends.

Mary Ross Agosta, a spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Miami, confirms that Morffi was sacked because "she broke the contract she signed when she began teaching at a Catholic school". Peter and Paul Catholic School in Miami, Florida, but was told to leave when she got back from her wedding to Natasha Hass, her partner of two years.

EPL: How Wenger's decision will force Lacazette out of Arsenal
Alexandre Lacazette is under "massive pressure" at Arsenal and could be sold in the summer, says Emmanuel Petit. And it's too early to compare them to each other, I still need time to work with Arsene Wenger.

"We were extremely livid".

Ms Cini said the parents hadn't known Ms Morffi was gay, but didn't care about her sexual orientation. The teaching contract apparently has a moral turpitude clause that was invoked.

"As a teacher in a Catholic school their responsibility is partly for the spiritual growth of the children", Agosta told the Herald. "One has to understand that in any corporation, institution or organization there are policies and procedures and teachings and traditions that are adhered to". One parent even considered withdrawing her child from the school in light of recent developments, the Miami Herald reported. "If something along the way does not continue to stay within that contract, then we have no other choice", Agosta said.

Archbishop Thomas Wenski released a memo, following Florida's lift on same sex marriage in 2015, that placed emphasis on the city's policy.

"'What she does at home-that's none of our concern", Ricardo Oviedo, whose daughter was in Morffi's class, told ABC News.

Her sacking came just days after she married her girlfriend and posted pictures of the ceremony to Facebook. "No other decision could be made but to terminate her".
