The Patriots also could elect to release tight end Dwayne Allen, a move that would open another $5 million in cap space.

Not long after reports surfaced that the Seattle Seahawks had agreed to trade defensive end Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, the New England Patriots announced that they released tight end Martellus Bennett.

Bennett, 30, only played two games with the Patriots after signing with the team last season. The Patriots had to make a decision on his future now because Bennett had a $2 million roster bonus that New England would have had to pay if he was still on the roster on March 14. According to ESPN's Field Yates, New England will release the enigmatic pass catcher.

Not only has the Crown Prince had lunch with the Queen, but he will also dine with the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge. Yemen has been embroiled in a bloody civil war since 2014 when rebels took over the capital city of Sanaa.

After a Super Bowl-winning season in 2016-17, Bennett signed with the Green Bay Packers.

Bennett is coming off a season in which he was hampered by a shoulder injury and finished with just 286 yards and no touchdowns. New England claimed Bennett on waivers after he was a surprising midseason cut in Green Bay. He was elevated to the 53-man roster several times, and played in two games for the Patriots, returning four punts for 32 yards.
