Samsung Galaxy S9 available in S. Korea for pre-order buyers

9 Reasons You Shouldn't Buy or Upgrade to the Galaxy S9 now Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Might Not Have In-Display Fingerprint Scanner, Analyst Says
Frank Williams | 09 March, 2018, 19:12

Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities - an analyst who is often right with Samsung predictions - says the company won't have in-screen fingerprint tech ready for the Note 9 because of "technical difficulties". However, as per the latest report, handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy A7 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A3 (2017) will get the latest Android OS soon.

We've already seen companies like Vivo release smartphones with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Some of the challenges that Samsung is facing include an issue with screen protectors and other situations that can adversely affect the success rate of the in-display fingerprint scanner. According to the analyst, both ultrasonic and optical solutions have failed to meet Samsung's self-imposed standards. Kuo remains optimistic about the technology, though. He claims that it is "key for full-screen designs" and that facial recognition - as seen in the iPhone X - can not fully replace fingerprint scanning. And this year it's all about the camera: Samsung's new phones have a mechanical dual aperture that can adjust depending on the lighting and a new Super Slo-mo feature that automatically creates GIFs from your footage. Instead, it will introduce new products and technologies when they are ready.

The Galaxy A8+ also allows you to pick and choose which original Samsung apps you want to install when you are first setting up your phone. In a surprising move, a new Chinese manufacturer Vivo has managed to launch a flagship device which supports fingerprint sensor embedded on the screen.

Celtics Clinch NBA Playoff Berth with Win over Timberwolves
The Celtics posted a 35-point first period for the second straight game, as they did to fuel their 105-89 win over the Bulls. Minnesota's Nemanja Bjelica scored a career-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting, including 6 for 9 from 3-point range.

However, Synaptics' Clear ID FS9500 isn't good enough for Samsung.

Infinix Note 4 features a 5.7-inch full HD 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MT6753 processor, Mali T 720 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expandable to 128GB via microSD card. When Apple removes the headphone jack and Samsung would still be using the physical fingerprint sensor, they are obviously pulling the entire smartphone industry behind.

The Galaxy S9 feature was particularly helpful coming from the iPhone X, which I usually have to pick up to unlock since it doesn't have a fingerprint sensor.
