iOS Users: WhatsApp Will Now Give You 68 minutes To Delete A Message For Everyone
12 March, 2018, 15:24
WhatsApp has increased the deadline for when a user can apply the "Delete for everyone" feature in a group or private message. The feature was spotted in Android beta, and it looks like this has been rolled out to iOS and Windows versions of the WhatsApp as well. To be precise, one hour 8 minutes and 16 seconds, beyond which, the user can not erase messages.
In a bid to improve user-experience in its messenger app, Facebook-owned WhatsApp has brought several new features in the last few months, including delete for everyone option in the group to erase unintended messages in wrong channels, colored background in the status update and more.
This feature had certain loopholes which was exploited by users on unauthorised WhatsApp versions. When the recipient received this particular message contained the revoke request, WhatsApp checked if the ID of the message was present in the database and directly deleted it. If now deletes message with only date of less than 24 hours.
Ben Stokes pleads not guilty to affray Stokes and Hales will also face an European Central Bank disciplinary hearing once the criminal proceedings have concluded. Stokes is due to play in the Indian Premier League after being sold for $1.9 million to the Rajasthan Royals.
The report states that the chat app has decided on 24 hours as time frame to ensure that the recipient receives the revoke request.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, a fan site that tests new WhatsApp features early, in order to stop such bad users, the messaging platform has implemented the new feature. The reports also highlights that if the recipient's phone is not switched on within 24 hours, the revoke request will be considered invalid. The latest WhatsApp version 2.18.31. will extend the time set for reviewing a message sent to a contact, or in a group. The change to the message deletion function was added quietly though, and to be frank, it seems a bit odd as to why the allotted timeframe is so specific.
