For everyone else, you'll be able to watch online at btsport.com/final or in UHD on YouTube, via the BT Sport app or on Virgin channel 100.

Pete Oliver, managing director of marketing and sales at BT Sport, said: "To have Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final is fantastic".

In a reverse of the current schedule, RTE will now have first pick of Tuesday night Champions League fixtures, with TV3 getting first choice on Wednesday. BT also confirmed that the clash will be broadcast for free too.

BT Sport are to show the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool live and free online.

News broke earlier today that TV3 had snapped up the majority of the rights to Europe's top competition for the next three seasons.

Real Madrid defender Marcelo would "love" to play with Neymar
Departing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he was close to sealing the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo in what would have been a stunning move.

Liverpool are aiming for an historic sixth European Cup (or Champions League title to use the modern parlance), while Real Madrid can claim a 13th title and a third in a row.

On satellite TV BT Sport continues to hold exclusive rights, although there is speculation that it may sub-let some games to Channel 4 or ITV as there are now no European games on terrestrial television in the UK.

Who's your money on to win for the UEFA Champions League Final?

If Virgin does opt to stream some matches exclusively online it will represent a further move towards such a system in football, with Facebook and Amazon both already having made tentative - but so far unsuccessful - moves towards the Premier League market.

The broadcaster, which has exclusive rights to show the match in the United Kingdom, says it will be streaming the match live and in 4K for subscribers and non-subscribers.
