Tottenham wrote on their Twitter account: "We are delighted to announce that Harry Kane has signed a new six-year contract with the club, which runs until 2024".

It means the Spurs striker has committed to the club until 2024.

The 24-year-old will head into this month's World Cup full of confidence after being made permanent captain by Gareth Southgate last month.

Kane enjoyed a stellar year, scoring 56 goals for Club and country, breaking Alan Shearer's record for the most Premier League goals scored in a calendar year with 39.

White Hart Lane Mk II is still under construction, but Spurs used one of its newly installed big screens to make an exciting announcement on Friday afternoon.

The attacker was named in the PFA Team of the Year for a fourth consecutive season this term after scoring 30 goals in the English top flight.
