A CDC investigation indicates pre-cut melons, including fruit salads, are a likely source of the outbreak in Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio. Sixty cases have been reported in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.
On Friday, the grocery chain said they would be removing pre-cut cantaloupe, pre-cut watermelon, and pre-cut melon mixes.
For now the agency is recommending that Missourians discard melon and fruit salads that contain it if it came from Walmart or if they don't remember where it came from.
