Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's longtime personal attorney, is parting ways with his legal team as he continues to face a federal criminal investigation, according to a person familiar with the case.

The New York Timesreported the law firm will stay with Cohen until the end of the week as his team reviews documents seized during an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid of Cohen's office and residence in April. But ABC News said the firm will not represent him going forward.

McDermott Will & Emery, a NY and Washington firm, has been representing Mr. Cohen.

This report follows a Vanity Fair story Tuesday that said Cohen is telling friends that he expects to be arrested at any moment.

The probe into Cohen is being handled by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, who were made aware of alleged wrongdoing by Mueller's team of investigators.

"It resulted in the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney-client communications between a lawyer and his clients".

The investigation into Cohen is separate from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the 2016 Trump campaign. (Reached for comment, Cohen wrote in a text message, "Your alleged source is wrong!") The specter of Cohen flipping has Trump advisers on edge. Cohen wants to hire a lawyer who has a relationship with the US prosecutor's office in Manhattan, the source added.

"Trump has been fuming about Cohen in private, blaming him for the messy Stormy Daniels situation", Haberman said.

"If anyone can blow up Trump, it's him", an unnamed White House official told Vanity Fair.

Cohen has found a new lawyer, but the name of Cohen's new lawyer was not yet known.

Fox Business correspondent Charlie Gasparino reportedly that an attorney for Michael Cohen has "complained for some time" that legal bills are not being paid.
