Alex Iovine and her girlfriend, Emma Pichl, ordered an Uber Saturday to take them from the Gowanus neighborhood in Brooklyn to the East Village in Manhattan, they told ABC New York station WABC-TV.

The Taxi & Limousine Commission has launched its own investigation.

Alex Iovine and Emma Pichl say they were kicked out of an Uber after sharing a kiss in the back seat.

A lesbian couple claimed they were kicked out of their Uber by their driver on Saturday after sharing a quick kiss in the backseat of the auto.

El Boutari told the New York Daily News that he was uncomfortable with the couple's behavior in his auto on the whole, not just with the kiss. 'We leaned in for a peck, and that's what it was, a legit peck'.

The couple become enraged, threatening to call police.

"You are not allowed ... it's disrespectful ... it's disrespectful".

Uber spokeswoman Susan Hendrick told CNN that the company has removed the driver's access to the app and that it is investigating the incident.

"This is an open society and Uber is a platform that is available to anybody regardless of your background, your orientation, and that is sacred to us", he continued.

French minister slams 'illegal' oil refinery blockades
It urged clients not to rush to petrol stations to fill their tanks, which could spark panic buying and shortages. Environmentalists have blamed palm oil cultivation for deforestation in southeast Asia.

"Yeah, it is illegal", the driver says.

According to Ms Pichl, Ms Iovine also filed a complaint with the city's Human Rights Commission in connection to the incident which took place during Pride Month.

El Boutari was captured in a video posted to YouTube telling the women he found their kissing "disrespectful".

One of the women asked him what the issue was, and he said that kissing was "illegal" in a auto.

El Boutari added that he would have acted similarly if it had been a straight couple, though he admitted that he has "less tolerance" for same-sex couples. Why are we getting kicked out of the Uber?' and he said.

An Uber spokesperson said, "Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we have reached out to the rider regarding her experience". "They reportedly have been refunded the cost of the $22 ride". It said it is investigating.

"It was a really bad experience", she said, "and ironically occurred on a bright sunny day during pride month in NYC". I haven't experienced homophobic behavior in the city.

A spokesman for New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission says el Boutari has been licensed since 2014, and that his license has been suspended after this incident, pending the outcome of the TLC's investigation. "This goes to show that it can happen anywhere".
