So in an attempt to avoid negative transport experiences for both user and driver, Uber could use this information to determine whether a more experienced or trained driver should be assigned to the user.

This will take into account typos, how precisely links and buttons are pressed, walking speed, and also how long it takes to request a ride.

The system will also help match intoxicated riders with drivers that have received relevant training and could potentially be used to modify pickup or drop-off locations based on safety concerns.

At least that's according to a patent application spotted by CNN with the title "predicting user state using machine learning".

Uber has submitted a patent application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in which it details an AI that can identify drunk and exhausted passengers.

It could then detect if you're using the app in an irregular way, and whether you're drunk.

Greece and Macedonia reach historic accord on name row: Greek official
The name issue has been blocking Skopje's aspirations to join North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union for years. That challenge will still be a mountain to climb, as Greek Prime Minister Tsipras has not yet secured any support in parliament.

Uber Technologies is reportedly working on an AI-based tech that can tell if you're drunk before you get into one of its cars.

It is not known if the info will be used to deter drivers from picking up such passengers in order to sidestep potential trouble.

The patent also says that the service Uber provides to the user could change, as a result.

For Uber drivers, dealing with drunk passengers is a drawback of the job.

Ironically, Uber is concerned about drunk passengers assaulting their drivers while it is turning a blind eye to the many cases of sexual assault by Uber drivers.

Uber driver Dave Carpenter knows the tell tale signs of an intoxicated passenger.
