Now, with Warner Bros. having released a few pictures from the film, it appears another character will also be in the mix, one that we-spoiler alert-saw perish in an airplane explosion.

Filming on the sequel is officially underway, two first-look photos have been released and an official title has been announced.

"Wonder Woman's loyal pal Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), who seemed to have sacrificed his life in the World War I setting of the first film, is back, judging by Jenkins" caption. We knew that joining Gal Gadot's Diana Prince would be Pedro Pascal (as somebody we don't know yet), Kristen Wiig's Cheetah, and some sort of cameo for original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter.

"The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you're really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie", Jenkins said. The title of the film was teased recently in a tweet by former DC Entertainment boss Geoff Johns, who stepped down from his post to transition into a more creative role just this week.

Production will take place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands. And yet, thanks to a teaser image tweeted out by Patty Jenkins herself, here's Trevor, looking not a day older than he did back in the first film. We'd like to think the second image in the first row depicts the invisible plane, but then it wouldn't be visible on the monitor, would it?

Wonder Woman 2 is now set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
