In a taped segment that opened both Stephen Colbert's The Late Show and Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show on Tuesday, Colbert and Fallon were seen responding to his recent slights.
"Hey, Lost Soul", Colbert said, adopting Trump's name for Fallon. Colbert states, proudly. As the pair chat, Fallon tells Colbert about the president mocking the two of them during his rally, calling them "no talent, lowlife lost souls". "And done. Great monologue", Colbert, 54, says before getting a video call from Fallon.
Late-night rivals Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon put their competition aside Tuesday to respond to President Donald Trump's rant against them in a rare crossover sketch.
There's nothing unusual about late night hosts taking aim at President Trump during their shows.
The pair riffed on the president's remarks, even looping in O'Brien, who pretended he didn't know Trump was even president.
"Hey, lowlife", Fallon greeted. "He's the president! What are you doing?" "Hey, lost soul", Colbert responds.

"I remember when [the] US president was too busy to pick fights".
"Remember, be civil!" O'Brien insists. He says, "If we're not careful, this could start to get ugly".
As O'Brien signed off, Fallon and Colbert agreed to meet for lunch at the Red Hen in Lexington, Virginia, the restaurant that denied service to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday, June 22.
The US President followed it up with comments against Fallon at a rally in West Columbia.
"Hm. Got it. It's surprising Trump is orange because if you ask me, he is bananas". Turns out Carson was ahead of his time, Colbert quipped.
Jimmy Kimmel was also the target of Trump's ire last night, but his show is off this week. He claimed Fallon had called him to thank him for the "monster ratings".
