Travis Pastrana honored legendary daredevil Evel Knievel Sunday night when he attempted three of Knievel's most risky jumps, in a row, on Evel Live. The stunts air live Sunday as part of "Evel Live" beginning at 8 p.m. EST on the History Channel.

In a stunt for History Channel and on a 160-kilogram Indian Scout FTR750 motorcycle, Pastrana, 34, first jumped 52 cars with a 44-metre jump, then went on to leap 16 Greyhound buses in a 58-metre jump.

Dressed in a replica of Knievel's signature white riding suit with a star-spangled blue V across the chest, the Nitro Circus star jumped 152 feet over 52 crushed cars, cleared 16 Greyhound buses and flew over the Caesars Palace fountains, a stunt that almost killed Knievel 50 years ago.

"Man, it's been such an honor and been an awesome career". The other two jumps I had enough time to hit my marks exactly ideal.

First up was Knievel's cars jump, in which Knievel set the world record by jumping over 50 stacked cars at the Los Angeles Coliseum in 1973. "This was definitely the coolest thing I've ever done". He concluded the event by sailing 149 feet (45 meters) over the fountains at Caesars Palace. He said it was "an honor to live a day in Evel's boots". The end result of Knievel's most famous crash was a broken hip, ankle, wrist and both hands, which will happen when you hit the ground at 90 miles per hour. And while Pastrana won't attempt to lengthen Knievel's attempt in any way, he'll have less room to operate, with a far shorter approach and run-out, given the development that's taken place on the Caesars Palace property over the ensuing 50 years.

Conditions were near-perfect weather-wise, although the temperatures were between 105 and 110 degrees, with temps on the surrounding asphalt - much like on a racetrack - hovered around 125 degrees.
