World record holder cuts nails for first time in 66 years

Chillal's nails were estimated to have a combined length of 909.6 centimeters, as measured by Guinness on November 17, 2014. But why did Shridhar grow them so long in the first place? He said that his last wish was for him to get compensation with his cut nail exhibit since he was not able to earn much with his long fingernails. I spent 66 years of my life on my nails.

Chillal chose to see how long he could grow them, even though the Guinness Book of World Records didn't exist then.

"When I had my nails I took special care of them because they're a very delicate part of our body, I took care of them for a lifetime", he said.

Chillal's nails have had significant drawbacks on his health, though, and taken great care to maintain. The nails have a combined measurement of 909.6 centimetres, with his thumbnail as the longest single nail at 197.8 centimetres.

Due to years of growing his nails, Chillal's left hand is handicapped.

Greensboro native John Isner eliminated in Wimbledon semifinals
He will go on to play the victor of the semifinal game between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in Sunday's Men's final. But this time he dug deep to break again in the ninth game on his way to levelling the semi-final at two sets apiece.

The weight of the long nails left Mr Chillal's hand in a permanently fixed position, unable to separate his fingers.

After 66 years of growing them, the man with the world's longest fingernails now has a free hand to work with.

"I am in pain", he told Guinness World Records. "With every heart beat all five fingers, my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting a lot and at the tip of the nail there's a burning sensation always", Chillal told Guinness World Records. "I never have to wait in a queue", he told Guinness World Records.

"It was a very hard decision for me to cut my nails, but when I realised after cutting them they'd be at Ripley's Believe it or Not, and the museum is going to maintain them ... then I felt like I was making the right decision, and that's when I chose to cut my nails".
