Donald Trump to Charles Koch: 'America First!’

Wall Street Journal blasts Trump in scathing editorial over shutdown threats Trump Bashes 'Globalist' Koch Brothers as 'Total Joke'

"They want to protect their companies outside the US from being taxed, I'm for America First & the American Worker - a puppet for no one".

The public spat with the Kochs comes less than four months before the November 6 midterm congressional elections that have Trump's fellow Republicans seeking to maintain control of both chambers of Congress and lay bare the ongoing internal debate in the Republican Party about trade policy.

He questioned Charles Koch's "claims" that he is donating "millions of dollars" to GOP candidates, saying "I know very few who have seen this (?)".

"Yeah, it's unfair. It's unfair to their people", Mr. Koch said of countries affected by the policies.

On Tuesday, Trump criticized the "globalist Koch brothers" who had become a "total joke" as a result of their criticisms.

The memo is only the latest fallout from the Koch donor summit last weekend, where officials voiced their displeasure with the Trump White House on issues like trade and divisive rhetoric. I never sought their support because I don't need their money or bad ideas.

McDaniel also claimed that the RNC has always been suspicious of the brother's political influence, including a database they maintain that has been used previously by Republican candidates to drive up donations in order to get elected. Neither representatives of Koch Industries or officials from the political network responded to a request for comment.

Former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon believes that the Koch brothers' criticism of Trump is unfounded, and they are just suffering from "Trump derangement syndrome" - a common phrase Trump has ascribed to people who are even remotely critical of Trump.

"Their network is highly overrated, I have beaten them at every turn".

Some Trump loyalists were furious at perceived contradictions in the Koch network's behavior and anxious that it could complicate the president's 2020 re-election. "We want to talk about what they're doing to undermine working families in our country and what we are doing to increase their payrolls and lower their costs", Pelosi said. "They love my Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judicial picks & more", Trump tweeted.

The Koch brothers didn't support Trump in the 2016 election and the two sides have clashed over the president's opposition to long-held conservative beliefs on government spending and free trade.
