College student includes massive gator in graduation photos

"Not your typical graduation picture", the caption of the photo reads, showing Makenzie Noland in a cap and sash, giving a thumbs up while standing next to the almost 14-foot long alligator.

Makenzie Noland, a Texas student, poses for her graduation photo in cap, sash and - somewhat unusually - with an alligator.

"It's something I'm super proud of", she told The Eagle in reference to her gator senior photos, because she and Big Tex were not best friends from the start.

Noland will graduate from A&M with a major in wildlife ecology.

"Every single time I get in the water with him I realize how huge of a creature he is".

Why did she, um, want to snap photos with a gator?

Big Tex holds the record for "Largest Live Captured Nuisance Alligator". Gator Country Adventure Park is the largest alligator adventure park/sanctuary in Southeast Texas, according to the website.

Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders join Spider-Man sequel
How all of this plays out onscreen is still anyone's guess, but if you dig Jackson as Fury, get ready to see a lot more of him. Plus, Peter Parker's classmates played by Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are supposed to be back as well.

"It's just like how your dog would treat you if you treat him well", Noland told The Eagle.

The star attraction at the facility is a gargantuan beast called Big Tex. "Over the past three weeks, I had gained Tex's trust and felt comfortable in the water", she says.

Since posting the photos to social media, Makenzie has gotten feedback from some people who love it - and some people who think it's insane.

"Not your typical graduation picture", she wrote Friday with the post. For example, Tex was rescued in 2016 from the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge in Liberty because he kept begging for food from people in boats.

The place has 370 alligators, but she developed a special bond with one in particular.

The photographer, Arlie Hammonds, is co-owner of Gator Country.
