Suspected Russian spy found working at US embassy in Moscow: report Suspected Russian spy worked in the US Embassy in Moscow for 10 YEARS

The Guardian reports that USA counter-intelligence investigators discovered a suspected Russian spy had been working undetected in the American Embassy in Moscow for more than a decade.

The Russian national, a woman, is understood to have had access to top secret material, which include the schedules for the president and vice-president, and the agency's email systems.

The woman, a Russian national, was hired by the US Secret Service and came under suspicion following a routine security sweep carried out by the State Department, according to sources quoted by the Guardian, which broke the story on Thursday, and CNN.

An unidentified Russian woman who worked for the Secret Service as a liaison between the agency and Russia's law enforcement and intelligence agencies was having regular unauthorized meetings with members of Kremlin's Federal Security Service (FSB), according to the United Kingdom newspaper.

The reports come just over two weeks after US authorities arrested Russian national Maria Butina in Washington, D.C. over suspicions that she worked for Russian intelligence.

But "she did not have access to highly classified information", the source told CNN.

Tesla board says Musk started going-private talks last week
Investors must now weigh whether giving even more freedom to Musk, and the extra debt the deal may incur, is worth it. Trading in Tesla was halted for an hour and a half on Tuesday afternoon, by which time the stock had soared to $370.

This was written by the British newspaper the Guardian, citing a source in the security services, reports "Radio freedom".

"We figure that all of them are talking to the FSB, but she was giving them way more information than she should have", an official told CNN.

The Secret Service asserts that the woman did not have access to national security secrets, but did not deny that she was a potential mole.

"At no time, in any US Secret Service office, have FSNs been provided or placed in a position to obtain national security information", the statement said.

"This is of particular emphasis in Russian Federation". The security office was alerted to the spy's unauthorized meetings with the FSB, a Russian intelligence agency. Foreign employees are relegated to "translation, interpretation, cultural guidance, liaison and administrative support" duties, specifically because they "can be subjected to foreign intelligence influence".

The State Department also acknowledged the risk of foreign governments trying to recruit its employees overseas and said it screens applicants and employees carefully as a result.

The State Department refused to provide comment on the "personnel matters" adding that if it finds out that an employee has been in breach of security guidelines, it takes "appropriate action in appropriate time".
