Chelsea Confirmed Lineup vs Huddersfield: Kepa, Jorginho make Premier League debut Sarri's Chelsea too good for Huddersfield | Sports World News 2018-08-11

With Conte having now departed west London, new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is looking to put his own stamp on a squad inherited from a fellow Italian.

- Including caretakers, Maurizio Sarri is the ninth consecutive Chelsea manager to avoid defeat in his first Premier League game in charge of the club, with Avram Grant the last to lose his debut fixture (2-0 v Manchester United in September 2007).

Asked if he can replicate Napoli's style at Chelsea, Sarri, who appeared to gnaw on some kind of cigarette during the game, added: "No, I have to know the characteristics of the players because I think I don't want to do another Naples".

"There is a misunderstanding in the feeling that he wants to get a move for the wrong reasons, but certainly he was pushing to go out of Chelsea because of his child", Henrotay told BBC 5 Live's "Sportsweek" radio show. "The first half was hard - maybe if you look at the result you can think about an easy game, but in the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team".

Jorginho's arrival saw N'Golo Kante move into a slightly more advanced role, and while he adapted characteristically well, popping up at the back post to volley home the opener in the 34th minute, Chelsea struggled to play through midfield.

Kepa had just one save to make in the game but was quick off his line to snuff out danger, and also showcased his aerial ability to claim high balls pumped into the penalty area during the 3-0 win.

"I've seen the spirit, attitude and togetherness we need for our season".

All three goals came in a frantic opening 20 minutes on Tyneside, with two headed goals for the north London team coming either side of Joselu's equaliser for Rafa Benitez's Newcastle. "The ref needs to explain that to us because I don't understand why (it was not retaken)".

He said: "If money is the only thing that decides things, then we will be in the bottom three - but we were not in the bottom three last season".

"The second goal we conceded shortly before half-time is a goal which we should never concede".

"We are not at the top of our potential", he said. But I think we did have a lot of unlucky situations.
