Rev. Mack Morris, the senior pastor at Woodridge Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala., was delivering a sermon on Sunday titled, "The Storms of Life", pegged to the recent damage in the area caused by Tropical Storm Gordon and the oncoming hurricane set to batter the Carolinas and beyond.

Last week, Nike shocked the sports world and the entire country when they unveiled an ad to celebrate the 30 anniversary of it's "Just Do It" campaign and chose former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as the face. He told them about Nike's campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick. Then he added, "I don't know about you, but I'm a little exhausted of that", to which the congregation responded with amens.

The percentage of people who said they couldn't imagine living without Nike dropped nine percent, from 33 percent to 24 percent.

"It's nearly as if they're ashamed of America and I personally think it's one of the dumbest marketing decisions I've seen come down the pipe lately", he stated.

"But I also would've been proactive in getting more organized because I do believe that there needs to be more organization between the players and the ownership", he added.

Donald Trump rejects Hurricane Maria death toll in Puerto Rico, blames Democrats
Earlier Tuesday, President Donald Trump had reiterated his praise for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's response. That assessment brought sharp rebukes from officials in Puerto Rico and congressional Democrats .

Kaepernick famously began kneeling in 2016 during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality, which brought a wave of protests from other players across the sport.

The school's president, Dr. Emir Caner, said in a statement that Nike's hiring of Kaepernick is "reprehensible". He was greeted by cheers, laughs and eventually, what appeared to be, a standing ovation from his congregation.

Backlash to the new ad campaign notwithstanding, Nike sales grew 31 percent over the Labor Day holiday this year compared with the previous year.

Kaepernick, a former National Football League quarterback, has been under contract with Nike for several years but is gaining a new platform thanks to the new sponsorship deal, to the alarm of his detractors.

Nike clearly made the strategic move to focus on a younger audience, hoping to latch onto that audience for years to come.
