On the surface, there's a chance it may involve the snaps or number of games Gordon plays with the Patriots, but that remains to be seen.

The #Patriots have agreed to trade for #Browns WR Josh Gordon, I'm told.

At least 8 to 10 teams called the Browns inquiring about potentially trading for Gordon, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson, after the Browns announced Saturday they meant to release Gordon on Monday.

Selected in the second round of the 2012 supplemental draft, Gordon has proven to be an exceptional talent - when he's on the field.

Gordon, 27, missed much of the offseason as he took time away from the team to deal with personal matters, but announced his return mid-August.

Josh Gordon could be staying in the AFC following his departure from Cleveland after all.

He logged a lone catch for 17 yards and a score in Week 1 against the Steelers before sitting out Sunday's loss to the Saints with a hamstring injury.

That's why the possibility of Gordon getting to play with an elite quarterback such as Tom Brady is extremely intriguing.

However, after that Pro Bowl season, Gordon was suspended for 44 consecutive games dating back to the final week of the 2014 season, which was a team ban for reportedly missing a walk-through prior to a trip to Baltimore to play the Ravens.

Gordon has shown the ability to be one of the best wide receivers in the league when he's right physically and mentally. Gordon earned Pro Bowl honors in 2013 and was named first-team All-Pro after finishing with 87 receptions and an NFL-leading 1,646 yards with nine touchdowns.

The Browns got a glimpse of what a healthy and focused Gordon could do over the last five games of the 2017 season after his return from his latest NFL-mandated suspension, which lasted almost three full seasons. Gordon has only made it through an entire 16-game season one time, and that came in his rookie year of 2012. Additionally, Gordon was on the receiving end of five passes that went for gains of at least 20 yards and converted 12 first downs.
