The American Bar Association has urged the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate to slow down on the vote on Brett Kavanaugh for a position on the Supreme Court until the Federal Bureau of Investigation has time to do a full background check on claims of sexual assault made by Christine Blasey (blah-zee) Ford and other women.

Republicans on the Judiciary Committee released a document detailing their investigative work that showed they had interviewed two separate men who said they believed that they, not Judge Kavanaugh, assaulted Ford.

Showing their own certainty, Republicans quickly scheduled a recommendation vote for Friday morning in the Senate Judiciary Committee, where they hold an 11-10 majority.

Republicans are reluctant for several reasons, including the likelihood that further investigations could push a vote past the November elections that may switch Senate control back to the Democrats and make consideration of any Trump nominee more hard.

Ford, a psychology professor at Palo Alto University in California, said over four hours of testimony that a drunken Kavanaugh attacked her and tried to remove her clothing at a gathering of teenagers when he was 17 years old and she was 15.

As he vigorously denied allegations by Christine Blasey Ford that he sexually assaulted her when they were teens, Kavanaugh touted his "well-qualified" rating by the ABA for the Supreme Court, saying he was "thoroughly vetted" by the 400,000-member group.

The Senate, controlled 51-49 by Trump's fellow Republicans, must now decide whether to vote to confirm Kavanaugh after the extraordinary almost nine-hour hearing.

Senator Jeff Flake is getting immediate, powerful and emotional feedback on his decision to support the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh.in the form of 2 tearful protesters who cornered him on Capitol Hill.

White House spokesman Raj Shah said the administration believes "things are moving in the right direction" for Kavanaugh's confirmation and that the White House is continuing to engage with undecided senators.

But he did say that that attorney Michael Avenatti, who is representing Kavanaugh's third accuser Julie Swetnick, is a "low-life". The Kurdish people are always ignored, so we take a lot of pride in being recognized by our Kurdish identity.

Ford delivered her testimony with steady, deliberate certitude.

After the hearing, Republicans met in private to discuss the next steps. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the committee's ranking Democrat, before the confirmation hearings began.

Republicans voted to move ahead with Kavanaugh's nomination.

The survey also found that 29 percent of Hoosiers said that a vote against Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court would make it less likely for them to support Donnelly in the fall midterm election, while 21 percent said they would support the Indiana Democrat and 38 percent suggested it would not make a difference.

One of Judge Kavanaugh's accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, is due to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. He mocked Ford's allegations - and several others since - that have accused him of sexual impropriety.

Even if the claims against Kavanaugh haven't been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, the magazine's editors said, "this nomination is no longer in the best interests of the country".

As soon as the committee opened, Democrats offered a motion to subpoena Mark Judge, a high school friend of Kavanaugh who Ford testified was a witness to the alleged assault.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, his voice rising in anger, called the hearing the "most unethical sham since I've been in politics".

Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, saying he never assaulted anyone and was not at the party Ford mentions.
