The second, filed September 27, claims Kavanaugh violated the judiciary's code of conduct by 'engaging in a public and partisan campaign of lies to cover-up and hide sexual misconduct and crimes he committed in the past'.

As of yet, Chief Justice Roberts has not made any moves to resolve or review the complaints.

The Denver-based 10th Circuit Court now handling the complaints is led by Chief Judge Timothy M. Tymkovich, who was nominated to the bench by former President George W. Bush.

According to Deadline, Kimmel joked that Trump is "flying extra high today after the confirmation of beer-battered Brett Kavanaugh, who is now on the United States Supreme Court despite all of the stuff you know about".

It's possible the complaints will never be investigated if the lower-court judges determine the judiciary's ethics rules don't give them jurisdiction over a Supreme Court justice. "Any violation of the Code does not disappear because he is now on another federal court", Gillers said in an email.

The first public word of the complaints came Saturday when D.C. Circuit Judge Karen Henderson acknowledged that complaints about Kavanaugh had been filed.

"The complaints do not pertain to any conduct in which Judge Kavanaugh engaged as a judge".

When complaints were filed in late September and early October, Henderson dismissed some but concluded that others were substantive enough to refer to another judicial panel for investigation.

Sens. Chuck Grassley and Mitch McConnell disagree on whether the GOP would try to confirm a Supreme Court justice in a presidential election year, something they prevented Democrats from doing in 2016. The judges may be forced to conclude "that intervening events have rendered the allegations moot or make remedial action impossible", said Arthur Hellman, an ethics professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

Even before the confirmation, Kavanaugh's opponents had a comeback line, printed on the back of jackets they wore to the Capitol: "November is coming". Any member of the public can file a misconduct claim against a judge on the circuit where he sits, she noted.
