Guardiola defends Man City over financial fair play allegations

City could face UEFA and Premier League sanctions over alleged financial doping La Liga call for UEFA sanctions against Manchester City amid new FFP leaks

Der Spiegel cited Man City documents in which officials wrote: "Without significant additional revenues".

In a further email explaining the project's name, City's chief legal adviser Simon Cliff noted the longbow was the "weapon the English used to beat the French at Crecy and Agincourt".

Pep Guardiola has defended Manchester City in light of allegations the club breached financial fair play regulations and said they have to "accept it" if people claim they only win because of due to their spending power. According to Der Spiegel, the deal was a "closed payment loop", which allowed Manchester City to hide the expenditure.

More damaging allegations about financial impropriety have emerged from Germany's Der Spiegel news magazine, this time pointing the finger squarely at Manchester City in the first of a four-part instalment about the club's activities.

Der Spiegel also reports that City owner Sheikh Mansour provided monetary supplements to existing deals with sponsors in Abu Dhabi, where he is part of the royal family, to invest more money into the club.

A huge £59.5m of an agreement with club sponsor Etihad Airways worth £67.5m was apparently financed by Mansour.

Despite City's denials there have been growing calls for Uefa to investigate possible wrongdoing, including from the Spanish league.

The new documents reveal City chief executive Ferran Soriano said, in reference to FFP, the club "need to fight this and do it in a way that is not visible, or we will be pointed out as the global enemies of football".

Rouhani says Iran will break U.S sanctions
Japan had sought a waiver during negotiations with the USA , saying that its imports of Iranian oil had been falling recently. However, the Europeans need to figure out a way to maintain that trade with Iran without enraging the U.S.

City were initially handed a £49m fine for FFP breaches in 2014 but were given back £33.4m of that three years later after meeting the requirements of the sanctions initially imposed on them.

"We certainly hope Uefa will take the right decisions and enforce Financial Fair Play rules, but we don't have full confidence that they will".

His response comes after both Federation Internationale de Football Association and Manchester City issued statements in response to the allegations, denying any wrongdoing. "And of course we want to follow the rules, whether UEFA, FIFA or the Premier League", said the Spaniard, who joined City in 2016.

When asked about the accusations, the manager Pep Guardiola insisted that City had always tried to do things the right way.

"You have to accept it when people say you win just because of money, what can you say?"

"I'm completely honest, I don't know what happen because I'm a manager".

"We work a lot in a good way and that's why I always defend us - especially my players - and what we do". "Incredible people working here, and how professional they are in all the departments", he said.
