Chinese start-up Royole claims crown of world’s ‘first foldable phone’

Samsung gives peek at device that will fold Here's a first look at Samsung’s new foldable smartphone

The unfolded screen of the upcoming phone is bigger than Samsung's biggest smartphone, the Note9, which is 6.4 inches, and the iPhone XS Max at 6.5 inches.

That's because - as noted by reliable leaker Ice Universe - one of the features of One UI is the ability for the color of the interface to match the color of the handset, and in demonstrating this Samsung showed a phone in silver, green, black, blue and pink shades. A fairly obscure company named Royole won the race last week, but now Samsung has foldily thrown its high-tech folding hat in the smart ring.

This year's Samsung Developers Conference was more about the software that the company will be bringing in the coming years. Interestingly, while Samsung high-ups demonstrated the phone on stage, nobody else at the event was given the chance to get their hands on it.

A Samsung insider we know by the Twitter and Weibo handle of Ice Universe said that he doesn't expect to see cameras behind the displays of smartphones until 2020.

The other two are into the hospital including one suffering from a neck injury and is suspected to be in critical condition. Another witness on a passing tram told ABC Radio it seemed police had been trying to subdue a man who was waving something.

The main screen of the Samsung foldable comes with a 4.2:3 aspect ratio and the cover a 21:9 aspect ratio. A new foundation? Why would we want our displays to fold?

Samsung Electronics has unveiled its much-anticipated foldable phone in San Francisco, urging Android developers to start writing apps for it.

As for the OLED display, Samsung says that it can withstand being folded 200,000 times, which corresponds to approximately 55 times per day for 10 years.

China's Huawei Technologies has said it is planning to launch a 5G smartphone with a foldable screen in mid-2019.
