After the plagarism charges over the story of Vijay's ' Sarkar' directed by AR Murugadoss before the release of the film, now the film has become a subject of political contention as some scenes in the film have come under the scanner and are being seen as objectionable by AIADMK.

Law Minister C Ve Shanmugham said certain scenes amounted to inciting violence and warned of action. Last night Tamil Nadu cops went to the residence of AR Murugadoss but returned back after the top director was not available. Karuppiah and Yogi Babu in supporting roles has become one of the most debated films in recent times. In some places, the protestors resorted to tearing the banners of Vijay erected by the fans inside the theatre premises and shouting slogans demanding Murugadoss' arrest. They were referring to the scene in the film where freebies like a mixer and grinder were thrown into the fire. We will also take this to the attention of the Chief Minister.

Despite entering the 100 crore club in a span of two days, Sarkar starring "Thalapathy" Vijay, Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar alongside Radha Ravi, Pala.
