Despite Los Angeles making a trade offer, the teams "could not strike a deal", reports the Times.

On the last day of the 2018 season, star outfielder Bryce Harper turned down a long-term "aggressive offer" by the Washington Nationals, according to the Washington Post.

At the general managers meetings on Tuesday, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo disclosed that the team had engaged in talks with Harper's agent, Scott Boras. With just over a month until the MLB Winter Meetings, it doesn't appear that a decision from Harper (or any major free-agent) is imminent.

Washington tried to lock up Harper with one of the richest deals in baseball history before he became a free agent, but he opted to test the market. Nightengale now says that the $300 million offer is no longer in play.

So where does that leave Harper and the Nationals now? They can not wait for Harper to make his decision - which many in the industry believe will come no sooner than the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas next month - and miss out on the market.

Sriwijaya attempted to rationalize the airline's decision to take on two tons of the cargo by pointing out no laws were broken. However the airline agreed to remove the fruit, and passengers disembarked while it was offloaded.

"I will negotiate with anyone at any time if my client so desires for me to do so", Boras added. Nightengale says that Harper is seeking a 13-year deal that tops the average annual value of $34.42 million that Zack Greinke now has in his deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Teixeira signed an eight-year, $180 million contract with the Yankees before the 2009 season.

In seven seasons with the Nationals, Harper has a.279 career batting average, along with 184 home runs, 521 RBI, six All-Star selections and a National League Most Valuable Player award. He led the league in home runs, runs scored, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS in 2015 when he won the AL MVP award.

That Nationals offer may be off the table in its current form, but Boras rarely lets a high-spending team drop out of the race for a high-priced client.
