Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for California State University Channel Islands and for the Camarillo Springs area, according to Ventura County Fire Department officials.

Television reports showed several homes on fire in the Oak Park community. Winds were blowing between 25-30 miles per hour and pushed the fire across the freeway onto Conejo Mountain toward the Pacific Coast Highway.

Malibu itself - a city of about 12,000 people and known for beachside homes owned by celebrities and millionaires - was put under an evacuation order Friday morning.

Friday morning the fire was burning to the outer edges of Chico, a city of 93,000 people about a 90-mile drive north of Sacramento.

"This is a very unsafe wind driven fire".

California's Santa Ana winds have stoked the fires, causing the Woolsley blaze to double in size to 8,000 acres, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Approximately 15,000 residents had been evacuated. "It was just a wall of fire on each side of us, and we could hardly see the road in front of us". "It's going to take some time", he said.

"We've been pushing this and pushing this", CalFire Capt. Scott McLean said in a phone interview early Friday morning. "It was chaos. I couldn't believe what people were doing".

CBS2's Kandiss Crone described the sight, saying, "The little bunnies there, quite a few of them, we've seen trying to escape the flames and get out, get to safety because their home, their habitat is on fire".

House of Representatives - questioned the president's move on Twitter and said that "we will be holding people accountable". In any of those instances, a House investigation against the president could ensue with or without Mueller's report .

He said: "The town is devastated, everything is destroyed".

The latest numbers estimate the Hill fire has burned over 10,000 acres.

NWS said wind guests of 50 to 70mph were expected to lash the mountains in Ventura County.

A separate fire is threatening Malibu and has caused the city to be evacuated.

Taft High School and Pierce College are open to people in Los Angeles County.

Caitlyn Jenner's Malibu home has unfortunately burned down in the horrific Woolsey fire raging through Southern California. She had been filming aerial shots in her private plane earlier for her Instagram Stories and realized her own home was threatened. She revealed she had an hour to pack and evacuate from her home in the Calabasas area. "I pray everyone is safe", she wrote.
