Keller @ Large: Fallout From Acosta-Trump Confrontation

A White House aide reached for the microphone from CNN’s Jim Acosta A White House aide reached for the microphone from CNN’s Jim Acosta

The comments came after Trump had heated exchanges with both Ryan and CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta on Wednesday.

When an intern attempted to take the microphone away from Acosta, he seemed to push away her arm - an incident that prompted press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to suspend his press pass.

Now Trump suggests that reporters will risk their credentials if they do not treat the White House and the presidency with "respect".

CNN and other White House reporters defended Acosta, saying there was nothing wrong with his questioning of Trump and that he did not inappropriately touch the assistant.

Acosta began his series of questions by saying he wanted to "challenge" Trump on his decision to call the latest Central American migrant caravan traveling to the US up through Mexico an "invasion". Instead, Acosta continued with a second question about the Russian investigation, which Trump shrugged off with another curt answer.

"He gets paid to do this", Mr. Trump said.

In a video which you can see below, Jim stands before Trump and refuses to give up the microphone while the next reporter in line tries to grab it.

The president also ridiculed CNN White House correspondent Abby Phillip who asked Trump if he wants acting attorney general Matt Whitaker to "rein in" special counsel Robert Mueller.

Protesters call for Mueller investigation to continue
House of Representatives - questioned the president's move on Twitter and said that "we will be holding people accountable". In any of those instances, a House investigation against the president could ensue with or without Mueller's report .

People on social media are shedding light on the important work by black female reporters after the president called journalist April Ryan a "loser" and insulted a string of other black women this week.

Acosta shot back at the accusation of misconduct, tweeting "this is a lie" - as his network and a number of Washington journalists who had been at the press conference voiced support for him and denied the White House allegations that he touched the intern. She gets publicity and then she gets a pay raise or she gets a contract with, I think, CNN, but she's very nasty.

The video tweeted by Sanders does not have any audio, which would make it easier to tamper with, said Shapiro.

Earlier this week Trump snapped at another African American woman, Yamiche Alcindor of PBS, and accused her of asking a "racist question". "Nobody manipulated it", said Trump.

Trump has frequently attacked the media, including during his presidential campaign.

"I think Jim Acosta is a very unprofessional man-he does this with everybody".

Question for @PressSec: Where'd you obtain the distorted @Acosta video you posted? "The way you treat other people is frightful!" I mean, she intentionally disseminated doctored video to discredit a reputable journalist.

A White House aide tried to take the microphone away from Acosta, who refused to surrender it. She knows it. These are dark times and not only because of the pack of lying liars in charge.
