Pompeo will meet with his North Korean counterpart, Kim Yong-chol, in NY on Thursday to continue discussions on the denuclearization of the regime.
"We will reconvene when our respective schedules permit", she said.
The State Department said "conversations continue to take place", with North Korea, and added: "The United States remains focused on fulfilling the commitments agreed to by President Trump and Chairman Kim at the Singaporesummit in June".
