Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday joined a protest on climate change outside of Nancy Pelosi's office. They thanked Ocasio-Cortez for her participation.
"Leader Pelosi's pledge to be a transitional leader for House Democrats, focused not only on our legislative agenda, but on ushering and mentoring our next generation of leaders to carry our efforts forward for the longer run, is also a prudent and wise approach".
Ocasio-Cortez, the self-described democratic socialist who ousted veteran Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley, this year, struck a less-confrontational tone in the Capitol than she has on the campaign trail, openly raising the possibility of cooperating with Pelosi should she return to her perch as House speaker in the new Congress.
More significantly, on Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez spent her first day on the Hill at an illegal demonstration in aspiring Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office to push for a serious resolution to global warming.

"We are inspired by the energy and activism of the many young activists and advocates leading the way on the climate crisis, which threatens the health, economic security and futures of all our communities", Pelosi said. "I have recommended to my House Democratic colleagues that we reinstate the select committee to address the climate crisis".
"I think every single one of us that are part of this effort to forge new leadership are very mindful of the fact that women form a large part of our caucus", Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Texas, who opposes Pelosi, told reporters, "It's hard to say now but I think every single one of us are motivated to ensure that we have a woman leading the caucus".
Meanwhile, Pelosi is seeking to reclaim the speakership of the House as some anti-Establishment incoming and incumbent members of the House refuse to support her. Pelosi can only afford to lose six votes - a number that could grow to 14 if Democrats win the eight House races yet to be called.
Pelosi's allies have been quick to criticize the group vowing to block her as working to derail the will of the majority of House Democrats, and have ridiculed the group for not being able to find a candidate to challenge her for speaker head-on. We have to get to 100 percent renewable energy in 10 years.
But, echoing the demands of the activists from the Sunrise Movement and Justice Democrats, Ocasio-Cortez also said the committee needs to have "a mandate to draft a Green New Deal plan by 2020" and "not have officials appointed to it that accept fossil fuel industry contributions".
But Sunrise Movement wasn't convinced: "Nancy Pelosi is bringing a squirt gun to a wildfire", the group tweeted.
