Recently, US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Prime Minister engaged into a war of words on Twitter after the former, in an interview with Fox News said that Pakistan doesn't do "a damn thing for us", and also alleged that the country helped wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden to hide in its soil.
When asked whether he thinks Pakistan's relationship with the United States should warm up, he replied "Who would not want to be friends with a superpower?"
"The security situation in Afghanistan remains hard, we have seen a number of high profile attacks in the past month, but the Afghan forces stand firms so do we".
"We believe that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is the guiding document for this society until such time as this society through its relevant representatives would decide to make changes", he said.
Meanwhile, some of Afghanistan's mainstream political parties on Thursday said they have established independent peace negotiating teams to talk to the Taliban.
On question of future of Pak-US ties, the prime minister noted: "I would never want to have a relationship where Pakistan is treated like a hired gun - given money to fight someone else's war".
Prime Minister Imran Khan has categorically said Pakistan will no longer fight others' war and those who had been asking Pakistan to "do more" now want us to mediate between the Afghan warlords and the US-backed Afghan government.
Khan told The Washington Post that Pakistani security forces have repeatedly asked the United States for evidence on its claims that there are "sanctuaries" for the Taliban in Pakistan.
"We call on all countries to play a constructive role and to support the Afghan peace", he said.
Replying to the presence of Taliban in Pakistan, Khan said that there are no sanctuaries in Pakistan for terror outfits.
Bass said that the USA is feeling a sense of urgency to see negotiations begin between Afghans because they see the overwhelming demand for peace.
On being asked about accusations by the USA that Pakistan was "harbouring" Taliban leaders, Khan said: "I have never understood these accusations".
"We must continue to engage with the Pakistani leadership to realise how we can achieve this mutual interest", McKenzie said. Now I'm happy that everyone realizes there is only a political solution. "It has to be a regional solution, not just a solution centred in Afghanistan", he said. "More than 40 per cent areas in Afghanistan are not under the control of the Afghan government", he added.
"There were a lot of people in Pakistan who opposed it, including me".
"As I said our goal here grounded in the objective realities is that there needs to be a settlement that comes from within the society so that it is broadly accepted by the society and therefore has a good chance of being implemented", he said.
"We have 2.7 million Afghan refugees". I think it's a conditions-based approach we're going to go through this winter.
The US envoy said they are trying to bring about those circumstances that allows those negotiation among Afghans to occur.
Responding to questions, McKenzie refused to give a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
