On Thursday, January 3, the Ministry of Defence confirmed military personnel had been withdrawn from Gatwick.

Passengers wait at the North Terminal at London Gatwick Airport, south of London, on 20 December 2018 after all flights were grounded due to drones flying over the airfield.

Reported drone sightings at the airport caused mass disruption to passengers in the run-up to Christmas and the army was brought in to help bring an end to the travel chaos.

"The military capability has now been withdrawn from Gatwick".

"The Armed Forces stand ever-ready to assist should a request for support be received".

But according to the Associated Press, an Israeli technology company has said its anti-drone system has drawn major interest in the weeks since the incident at Gatwick.

The equipment can detect and jam communications between a drone and its operator and was deployed on a roof at Gatwick.

The Sheldon Independent School District said in a statement that Jazmine was a second-grader at Monahan Elementary in Houston . The Harris County Sheriff's Office tweeted Saturday night that the investigation had "taken a new direction".

The drones were first reported on 19 December, with sightings over three days closing the airport repeatedly.

The system has a range of several miles and uses four radars to give 360-degree detection to identify and track drones. The MoD declined to specify when the Army withdrew the equipment.

Transport Minister Chris Grayling met police, aviation and defence chiefs to discuss the issue, the report said.

The force said it was investigating "relevant sightings" from 115 witnesses - 93 of whom are described as "credible".

It is understood that a meeting between bosses of all United Kingdom airports and aviation minister Baroness Sugg will take place next week to establish what measures other hubs have taken since the Gatwick incident.

Mr York told BBC's Radio 4 Today programme: "I am absolutely certain that there was a drone flying throughout the period that the airport was closed".

The UK's two busiest airports are investing millions of pounds in anti-drone technology following pre-Christmas disruption that affected thousands of passengers.
