Pence says Trump’s wall claim was just his ‘impression’

White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner left Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Vice President Mike Pence talk as they walk down the steps of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on the White House complex Saturday Jan. 5 2019 Rep. Hoyer: Dems Could Sue If Trump Declares Nat'l Emergency on Border

Meanwhile, Pence was questioned by NBC News on Monday about Trump's claim that some former presidents told him a wall should be built (all four living presidents have denied it).

"This is a humanitarian crisis".

Schumer said Trump "just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration". "The president said law enforcement professionals have requested the $5.7 billion; it is he who requested it and it is he who said he would own the shutdown". "At the request of Democrats it will be a steel barrier rather than a concrete wall".

Every country defends their borders.

The president said that all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled illegal immigration. The government is in its third week of a partial shutdown over wall funding.

"The federal government remains shut down for one reason, and one reason only". There is not a wall around Obama's Washington home.

Negotiations on wall funding could proceed in the meantime, they said.

Lastly, he pointed at the dangers that "illegal aliens" posed for America and the history of violence that they have contributed to.

Kevin Hart Issues New Apology To The LGBTQ Community Over Offensive Remarks
There was speculation that he might return, but on Wednesday he told ABC's Good Morning America : "I'm not hosting the Oscars this year".

He asked, "How much more American blood must be shed before Congress does its job?"

"This is a choice between right and wrong". So help me God.

Trump was almost halfway through his 9-minute address before he mentioned the wall, describing it as a request from law enforcement rather than his longstanding political pledge.

In his dire address, Trump ticked off a string of statistics and claims to make his case that there is a crisis at the border, but a number of his statements were misleading, such as saying the new trade deal with Mexico would pay for the wall, or suggesting through gruesome examples that immigrants are more likely to commit crimes.

Following Trump's address, Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer of NY and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California gave an opposition response.

She said his speech was "full of misinformation and malice" and that Trump has "chosen fear [over] facts". "Both Pelosi and Schumer know their foundational argument but will firm up their rebuttal in real time because of uncertainty surrounding where President Trump may lead the American people", a source close to the preparations told the newspaper.

Schumer further reiterated that Americans would not be governed by Trump's "temper tantrum".
