Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will miss next week's court sessions and work from home, but her recovery from early-stage lung cancer surgery remains "on track" and no further treatment is needed, the court announced Friday. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's cancer surgery and ongoing recuperation has cast an atmosphere of uncertainty over the Supreme Court at a critical time for its future and as the legal fate of several controversial White House policies hang in the balance... Doctors said they found no "evidence of any remaining disease".

Politico reported that the White House stirrings came in response to Ginsburg being out of the office.

Dubbed the "Notorious RBG", Ginsburg marked 25 years on bench last year since her appointment to the court in 1993.

Due to the 85-year-old Ginsburg's recent health issues - including broken ribs and another cancer scare - senior aides within the White House are licking their chops at replacing the liberal icon and changing the direction of the nation's highest court for generations.

The White House "is taking the temperature on possible short-list candidates, reaching out to key stakeholders, and just making sure that people are informed on the process", a source told Politico anonymously.

The Supreme Court's Public Information Office announced on December 21 that Ginsburg "underwent a pulmonary lobectomy" in New York City. "They're doing it very quietly, of course, because the idea is not to be opportunistic, but just to be prepared so we aren't caught flat-footed."...

Amazon's Jeff Bezos has no prenup, $67B on the line
However, Bezos' wife, MacKenzie, knew the two were dating, the Post quotes an unnamed person close to Bezos as saying. Fortune noted on Wednesday that Bezos" divorce could "remove the "world's richest man' title from Bezos' resume".

The short list of potential replacements for the ailing Ginsburg include Seventh Circuit judge Amy Coney Barrett, whose name got floated before Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh.

Republicans still hold a majority in the Senate.

"Roe, I believe, would have been more acceptable as a judicial decision if it had not gone beyond a ruling on the extreme statute before the court", she wrote in the North Carolina Law Review.

Dr. Robert Miller, a professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, said he did not think it was "alarming" Ginsburg was not back at work three weeks after surgery but that he would be concerned "if her activity level does not improve over the next few weeks".

Ginsburg has said before that she has no plans of retiring anytime soon.
