GoFundMe will refund donations for Trump's border wall

Kolfage's will now attempt to build the wall without going through government channels, and is instead asking people to redirect their donations to a new non-profit organization.
The fundraiser was set up by Brian Kolfage, who is a triple amputee, a Purple Heart Recipient and a motivational speaker. He also introduced a new 501 (c)(4) non-profit Florida Corporation named "We Build the Wall, Inc.", where donors can redirect their refunds to if they still wish for their money to be used, in one way or another, to build a wall.
Kolfage also wrote that his team of professionals believes they can "complete significant segments of the wall in less time, and for far less money, than the federal government".
However that figure still fell far short of its aim to raise $1 billion so GoFundMe has said that everyone who donated to the drive will be refunded, Business Insiderreports. I am honoring that commitment today.
GoFundMe Director of North America Communications Bobby Whithorne said in a statement that all donors will automatically receive a refund unless they decide to send the money to Kolfage's nonprofit, which is classified by the IRS as a "social welfare organization".
Donors will have to proactively choose to hand over the donation to Kolfage's group. Kolfage blamed Washington gridlock in part, saying that "the federal government won't be able to accept our donations anytime soon".
In a statement on January 11, Kolfage explained the choice to create a 501 (c)(4). Kolfage wrote. "I will personally not take a penny of compensation from these donations".
In addition, some 800,000 federal employees have been on furlough or are being forced to continue working without pay, costing the United States economy an estimated several billion dollars, Sputnik previously reported.
US President Donald Trump presents a "typical standard wall design" as he participates in a roundtable discussion on border security on 11/1/19.
In a statement, GoFundMe cited Kolfage's initial statements on the fundraising page as proof that the initial campaign had failed to achieve its goal. "We are already taking action on identifying the most densely crossed areas of the border, soliciting affected landowners along the Southern border, and ascertaining the willingness of border landowners to provide no or low-priced easements on their property for wall construction".
U.S President Donald Trump's border wall prototypes stand near the U.S. -Mexico border in San Diego, Calif., on July 16, 2018.
Under his plan, segments of the wall would be privately constructed through negotiations with landowners along the border.
