Rick Nash officially retires due to concussion symptoms

Rick Nash announces retirement after 15 NHL seasons Former Rangers star Rick Nash forced to retire early

The Ontario native won two Olympic gold medals together with the Canadian team and claimed the world title and 2007 world tournament in Moscow.

"Due to unresolved issues/symptoms from the concussion sustained last March, Rick Nash will be forced to retire from the game of hockey". He spent almost six seasons with the Rangers, making it to the Stanley Cup final in 2014 (losing to the Los Angeles Kings) and scoring a career-high 42 goals in 2014-15. Rick would like to thank everyone who has supported him during this hard period. He also had 368 assists in 1,060 career games.

Nash totaled three goals and three assists for six points in 11 games with the Bruins last season.

Resnick told NHL.com on Friday that Nash was holding out hope he could play this season, but on advice of his medical team made a decision to retire.

Driver who crashed while blindfolded was participating in ‘Bird Box Challenge’
Police say the young woman in question had pulled her hat over her eyes while she was driving, which resulted in the crash. The 17-year-old, her 16-year-old passenger and the occupants of the SUV were "luckily" not injured.

At the beginning of last offseason, the rumor mill was flying that Rick Nash had hoped to return to his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, but was waiting for what he was hoping to be positive news regarding his last concussion. He reached the 40-goal mark three times - most recently with the Rangers in 2014-15 - and led the NHL in goals (41) in his second season in the league (2003-04).

Whether his number gets retired, or not, Rick Nash has been the most important player in Columbus Blue Jackets history.

Nash was an unrestricted free agent after completing an eight-year, $62.4 million deal originally signed with Columbus.

"I miss it; I love the game", Nash said in that interview. He was involved in two high-profile trades in his career: the six-player blockbuster in July 2012 that brought him from Columbus to NY and the February 2018 deadline trade that saw the Bruins rent him before free agency from the Rangers. There's a chance I could get healthy, come back and be great.
