Bungie, Activision part ways

Activision and Bungie announce end of their partnership 4 things Bungie should do after splitting from Activision

Bungie and Activision are splitting up, an industry-shaking divorce that will see Destiny enter fully into Bungie's control. Eventually, though, Bungie's relationship with Microsoft would sour, and the two companies would split. The most recent major entry in the franchise, Destiny 2: Forsaken, was beloved by players but failed to meet Activision's sales standards. A year and a half later, the game is going strong thanks to expansive updates, raids, and tons of multiplayer adventures. Bungie notes that it will deliver on the existing Destiny 2 roadmap.

Seattle-area game developer Bungie will soon become the sole publisher and handler of the Destiny online-shooter series that it developed in partnership with publisher Activision.

Bungie's break-up with Activision is believable to have been by mutual consent as the business world tries to make sense of the news. As an independent studio setting out to build a brand new experience, we wanted a partner willing to take a big leap of faith with us.

Samsung to Unveil Galaxy S10 in San Francisco on February 20
The original price on the Samsung Galaxy A7, at the time of launch, was ₹23,990 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant. So that's something to look forward to, though the amount of information available isn't clear.

In a blog post Thursday, Bungie said it'll take over publishing for Destiny and its sequels in the future, ending a nine-year partnership. SEC Activision said, "Bungie (will) assume full publishing rights and responsibilities for the Destiny franchise". The team also announced that plans for the separation are already under way and that both teams are dedicated to making sure the fans aren't hurt by the transitional process. Instead, with the emphasis on independence, this could pave the way for the same kind of exclusivity deals that Sony continuously snatched up with Destiny. It wants to assure players there is more of that on the way, and that this transition is only part of a brighter future for Destiny.

While the announcement may have come as a surprise to some, this was probably inevitable, given the tensions that developed following the release of Destiny 2 and the Forsaken expansion.

Activision apparently required a commitment to an annual launch cycle for the game, which in turn forced Bungie into development constraints that the company apparently wasn't happy about, according to Kotaku. We hope you'll join us there.
