Backed Syrian Forces Have ISIS in Its 'Final Moments'

Pompeo Says The U.S. Troop Withdrawal From Syria Is Just A 'Tactical Change' Pompeo confident of good outcome for Turkey and Kurds

President Donald Trump warned Turkey not to attack Kurdish forces in Syria after a planned USA pullout, saying the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally would be economically devastated if it did so.

Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan publicly lashed out at United States national security adviser John Bolton for saying the U.S. withdrawal was contingent upon Turkey's pledge not to attack US-backed Kurdish fighters in Syria once troops leave.

Ankara sees the backbone of that alliance, the YPG, as a terrorist group linked to the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK), which has fought a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state.

Trump also threatened to "devastate Turkey economically" if the country hit the Kurds living in Syria.

Trump announced on his Twitter page that USA troops in Syria are starting their pullout "while hitting the little remaining ISIS [Daesh*]' terrorists 'from many directions", adding that U.S. "will attack again from existing nearby base if it [Daesh terrorist group] reforms".

USA national security adviser John Bolton suggested last week that protection for Washington's Kurdish allies would be a precondition of the US withdrawal.

"Today, we discussed the latest developments and the steps that should be taken [in Syria]", Cavusoglu said on Saturday at an event in Turkey's southern Antalya province.

Mr Trump gave no details as to who would create, enforce or pay for this safe zone.

The president defended his decision to withdraw troops, saying any remaining IS fighters could be attacked from an unspecified "existing nearby base".

"Russia, Iran and Syria have been the biggest beneficiaries of the long term US policy of destroying ISIS in Syria - natural enemies", he wrote online.

"We also know that those who aren't terrorists, those who were fighting alongside of us for all this time deserve to be protected as well", Pompeo said.

Cavusoglu said Washington made a decision to withdraw its troops from Syria after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's firm stance against removing threat coming to Turkey from east of the Euphrates River in Syria. "Stop the ENDLESS WARS!"

So far the U.S. military has only started to move equipment out of Syria.

Senior U.S. officials and lawmakers have called on Trump to not abandon the PYD/YPG as he pulls out of Syria.
