As Mario Kart 8 sales pass the 15 million mark, and Mario Kart Tour is delayed, it's good and bad news in Nintendo's latest sales results.

Nintendo told us last October that Mario Kart was still on track for an early 2019 release, but the Japanese company today followed up with some disappointing news.

In brief: Before the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, quite a few people expected it to be a failure, but they were quickly proved wrong.

It also adds 60 Hz gameplay on some Android models, for those who want performance out of their mobile play. Epic Games has released a brand-new update for Fortnite that changes the game's version number to v7.30.

While covering the second quarter of Nintendo's financial year, I wrote a section on how this quarter, the third one, would reverse the downturn in software sales and resulting missing of estimates.

In their latest quarterly results they've downgraded their target to just 17 million, which they'll easily meet because they're now on 14.49 million. The first three quarters saw at total of 14.48 million units shifted, meaning it would need to move over 5.5 million Switches in the final quarter. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold 12.08 million units. That's nearly half of all Switch software sales in a single quarter, to give you an idea how good the holiday sales were for Switch. It was the first time that Mario had been playable on another game platform. "The app will now launch in Summer 2019". The much-anticipated title was originally scheduled to arrive by the end of March, but Nintendo says it needs more time to "improve quality of the application".

Nintendo has confirmed that the launch of Mario Kart Tour has been pushed back to this summer. Nintendo also intends to continue releasing content, or "service operations", for now released titles "so that consumers can enjoy playing them for a long time".
