That's according to Russian news agency RosBiznesKonsalting, which made the announcement last week.
A draft law called the Digital Economy National Program was introduced to parliament a year ago that would force all state internet providers to re-route internet traffic through exchange points managed by Russia's telecommunications regulator, Roskomndazor.
The bill proposes that all internet traffic to users be routed through servers in Russian Federation - making VPNs (virtual private networks) ineffective.
A year ago a draft law allowing technical changes so that Russia could operate independently was introduced to the Russian parliament.
A date for the test has not been revealed, but it's supposed to take place before April 1, the deadline for submitting amendments to the law -known as the Digital Economy National Program.
But some officials think the voice that western countries will cut off Russia's network is very ridiculous, instead, the Russian government will do it automatically in emergency to eliminate the negative impacts on the nation.
Russia has tried, so far with extremely limited success, to block Telegram, a popular encrypted messaging service, but its use continues to be widespread, including among some senior Russian government officials who are reported to use VPNs to circumvent the ban.
Leeds star Clarke thankful for support after collapsing in Boro draw
The game was given 12 minutes of stoppage time and it was in the 101st minute that Kalvin Phillips scored the equaliser for Leeds. Clarke collapsed during the second half of Leeds' thrilling 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
The formal goal of the new test is to ensure that the Russian internet can function independently in the event that access is cut off by other countries.
This comes after repeated threats from North Atlantic Treaty Organisation to sanction Russian Federation for being behind several cyberattacks.
The proposed law, fully endorsed by President Putin, is expected to pass.
Internet providers are effectively planning to flick the switch and cut Russian Federation off from the rest of the not-so-world wide web.
The Russian government has agreed to foot the bill and to cover the costs of ISPs modifying their infrastructure and installing new servers for redirecting traffic towards Roskomnazor's approved exchange point.
Critics say the bill would create an internet firewall similar to China's.
