The 21-year-old made the announcement on Monday on her Twitter handle and thanked Bajin for his work.

"Hey everyone, I will no longer be working together with Sascha", Osaka wrote.

'I thank him for his work and wish him all the best in the future'.

Naomi Osaka has sensationally split with coach Sascha Bajin a little more than two weeks after she won the Australian Open and assumed the world No.1 ranking.

Bajin won't take long to attract new suitors - he has previously worked with Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki.

It's disappointing to give it away in the last few minutes. "Sometimes it has been harmful to us, and today it ruled out an important goal".

Bajin became the first recipient of the WTA Coach of the Year award after guiding Osaka through her exponential rise in 2018.

No reason was given for the surprise decision to part ways, but Japanese media cited Osaka's management company IMG in reporting that there had been a breakdown in the player's relationship with the coach since the start of the year.

The 21-year-old beat Petra Kvitova in three sets in the Australian Open final on January 26.

Osaka defeated Serena Williams in a controversal US Open final to claim her first major title last September, also moving into top 10 for the first time.

Osaka, who withdrew from this week's Qatar Open due to a back injury, has not yet announced a replacement for Bajin. She has dual citizenship and now is based in Florida.
