Pakistan has assured the United states that it will deal firmly with all terrorists and take steps to de-escalate tensions with India, a top White House official said Monday.

Terming stabilising the country's economy a big challenge, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday expressed the hope that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government would succeed in overcoming the financial challenges facing the country.

Pakistan has assured the U.S. that it will deal "firmly" with all terrorists operating from the country and take steps to de-escalate tensions with India, according to National Security Adviser John Bolton.

The Foreign Minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had released the captured Indian pilot Abhinandan as a goodwill gesture despite India's belligerent posture.

Qureshi also thanked European foreign ministers and parliamentarians for supporting Pakistan in securing GSP Plus facility for its exports.

The German foreign minister appreciated Pakistan's efforts for restoration of peace in Afghanistan, the statement added.
