"He asked Malaysia to ensure a fair trial and to set free Doan Thi Huong", Voice of Vietnam radio reported today after Minh's call to Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah. Kim Jong Nam's freaky murder with a deadly VX nerve agent occurred in February 2017, as he waited to board a flight at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

As the court announced its decision, Siti Aisyah, 26, turned to her Vietnamese co-defendant, Doan Thi Huong, 30, in the dock and the two women, who had been facing the death penalty together, embraced in tears.

They had claimed that they thought they were taking part in a prank for a television show.

A Malaysian high court ruled in August that existing evidence warranted prosecution of the four North Korean fugitives, Aisyah, and Huong on charges of conspiracy to murder Kim Jong Nam.

Four North Koreans, believed to be the plot's masterminds, fled Malaysia after the murder and remain at large.

Aisyah said she hopes Huong is also freed.

All-English showdowns in Champions League quarterfinals would be 'fantastic' - Jose Mourinho

"I am sure they decided that it was an easy thing to release her and score a few points with Indonesia". He had been living overseas for years but could have been seen as a threat to Kim Jong Un's rule.

Kim was the eldest son in the current generation of North Korea's ruling family. They did not give any reason for the remarkable retreat in their case against her.

The Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), an opposition party, said withdrawing the murder charge against Aisyah was "a fiasco".

"Until today, we do not know what were the exceptional circumstances that were needed for the attorney-general to review the charge against Siti Aisyah".

"After studying the case thoroughly, we sent letters to the Attorney-General of Malaysia and met with him and Prime Minister Mahathir last August", Laoly told reporters with Siti Aisyah shortly after landing in Jakarta.

Analysts said Aisyah's release was in part due to politics and the improved relations between Indonesia and Malaysia that have come since Mahathir Mohamad returned to the Malaysian premiership previous year after the stunning election defeat of Najib Razak.

"Miss Aisyah was deceived and had no awareness whatsoever that she was being used as an intelligence tool of North Korea", he wrote.
